- Important high quality mid Victorian grand tour shell cameo brooch of the day and night. It dates from around 1860. It will come in a good quality jewellery box. Great classical cameo subject. The goddesses are shown with a new moon and star and an owl. The shell cameo is mounted in it's original buttery yellow pinchbeck frame and it hugs the contours of this fine shell cameo. It is not gold but gives the impression of high carat yellow gold.The brooch measures 2 x 1.5 ins. Visually spectacular in every way. It is a fine antique high quality cameo. Excellent subject. Good antique condition. Some very feint light stresses , barely worthy of note to the reverse,but as the shell is quite thick does not go through into the front. The reverse also has a few edge chips. Good hook and pin.
