B Auto Parts was established in 1953 by Steve Barzoff as a small scrap and tow yard in Illinois, across from downtown St. Louis. It was operated as such until 1976 when his son, Charlie, took the helm.
Charlie had a vision of his own and changed the business to a true salvage yard that catered to local repair and body shops. One important addition was that of local delivery service in 1979. Back then, Charlie would deliver the parts himself. Over time, however, the service has grown to a fleet of trucks that deliver late model parts within a 75-mile radius in Illinois and Missouri.
In 1996, B Auto Parts expanded and modernized further. The new facility would include new office spaces, six dismantling bays, and offer 35,000 square feet of warehouse space. This enabled the business to run a more efficient office and dismantling program.
That same year, Charlie’s son, David, entered into the family business and brought enthusiasm and an interest in technology which would help further B Auto Parts’ footprint in the recycling community.
about3In the late 1990’s, the father-son team again recognized a need in the automotive repair industry. B Auto Parts began adding popular European and Asian brands to its inventory.
As the business grew, in 2003, a new 80,000 square foot building was constructed which added a machine shop, delivery truck parking, rear axle re-manufacturing, six additional dismantling bays, a complete body shop for custom work, and additional warehouse space for parts storage (bringing the total parts storage area to over 250,000 square feet).
In 2006, the company opened its wheel reconditioning and refinishing shop. Currently, the shop refinishes approximately 200 wheels weekly for local shops and retail customers. Later that same year, B Auto Parts was awarded CAR and Gold Seal certification, which recognizes quality business and environmental practices for the direct benefit of our customers.
