- Dainty 3mm stud earrings set with faceted natural untreated Ethiopian opals. Available in sterling silver or 14k gold filled. Because opal is a natural stone each pair will differ slightly from the ones in the photos. Opal Care Ethiopian Opals are "hydrophane"which means if they come in contact with water or moisture over a period of time they will absorb it. They may lose their fire temporarily and turn yellow or brown. Don't worry though, the fire and colour will come back once the opals have fully dried. For this reason always remove your jewellery before showering, swimming or sleeping. If needed they can be dipped briefly but never leave opal jewellery in cleaning solution to soak. In most cases though a silver/gold polishing cloth will do the job very well.
