A frightening book about a frightening man who together with his one-time collaborator Hitler shaped the world for much of the twentieth century. Sebag Montefiore's book benefited from the end of the Cold War, and thus he had greater access to both material and people, including children of the famous and infamous. The book spotlights not only Stalin but also his henchmen and acolytes, including Beria and Khrushchev. There are several sets of black and white photographs in the book. This is a well preserved hardback copy, the hardback now being quite expensive on Amazon.
