Saratoga, VF-1B, 1933 Unlike the XF11C-1, it was largely just a P-6E with a radial engine, in this case the proven Wright R-1820, covered by a Townend ring. The wing structure was again wooden, and the tail surfaces and ailerons were again covered with canvas. The tailwheel was also placed more forward, like the P-6E, and the landing gear used smaller wheels with balloon tires, but had longer legs than the XF11C-1.
