Otto Wolff Berlin N100-1a2 10 Kohm Absolute Resistance Standard (SN: 14562/60)

2. The Otto Wolff Berlin N100-1a2 10 Kohm absolute DC resistance standard is designed for use in temperature-controlled oil baths. Its design is a coil of manganin wound on a tube supported in a perforated nickel-plated case. 

3. It is constructed with Manganin, a trademarked name for an alloy typically consisting of 84.2% copper, 12.1% manganese, and 3.7% nickel. Manganin is used to manufacture resistors because of its virtually zero temperature coefficient of resistance value and long-term stability. 

4. The connections to the resistance element are made in a four-terminal configuration, with the potential terminals mounted on the cover plate and the current terminals on the horns. The current and voltage terminals are copper for optimal accurate and the reduction of thermal EMF’s.
