It describes a special class of linear and bilinear control systems known as weakly coupled systems. These systems are examined using two new approaches developed by the authors in the last 20 years: the recursive approach (based on fixed point iterations) and the Hamiltonian approach (based on block diagonalization of the Hamiltonian matrix of optimal control theory of linear systems).
