This Linear M&S MC-3 chime module was working normally when I removed it from from the wall at home, however, the capacitor at location C8 on the board was slightly bulging (as was common with many capacitors in the mid 2000s). When inspecting it, the lid partially came off as can be seen in the photo.
I am not a rework expert, but based on the nominal performance prior to decommissioning, I believe replacing the single capacitor at C8 will return the module to proper working order.
The module will ship in a static safe bag, inside a well-padded box, so as to prevent any additional issues with the module.
