- The clip is hinged. The clip is adorned with beautiful roses that appear to be carved coral, however, I think they are actually be carved or molded celluloid or possibly Bakelite. There are bright gold areas directly beneath the roses, where the glue used to attach the flowers has protected the gold plating.
