Mazen Alamir is a Research Director at the French National Research Center (CNRS). His main research topic is the stability of NMPC formulations and the way NMPC can be accommodated for systems showing fast dynamics. He initiated the first IFAC workshop on NMPC for fast systems andserved as head of the Nonlinear Systems and Complexity group of the control systems department of the university of Grenoble. He is member of the IFAC technical committee on Nonlinear systems. Mazen Alamir is author of about 160 international publications including more that 50 peer reviewed international journal papers as well as a dozen of industrial patents. As far as MPC application areas are concerned, he worked on various topics such as: MPC for Building energy management systems, combined therapy of cancer, Diesel engine control, Constrained control of cryogenic systems, constrained automated-manual transmission in vehicles, etc.
